How far in advance do I need to book my private tour? We recommend that you book your private tour as far in advance as possible, as dates are limited. However, we may be able to arrange a booking with as little as two days notice.

Can a private tour be customized? For sure! The beauty of our private tours is flexibility. Have a special saloon you want to stop into? No problem. Need to pick up your group at two different locations? Adjust the start and end times a bit? We can make it happen. Just contact us and we’ll discuss how to make the tour work with your needs.

What should I do if the date I want is not listed as a public tour date? Always let us know your preferred date, even if it’s not currently scheduled. If you have a group of at least 10, we can usually schedule a tour for your requested date. Even if it’s just one or two of you looking for a specific date, we are always adding new days, so let us know your needs and we’ll get right back to you if a tour is added.

Are drinks included? Yes. Locally-sourced alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served aboard the tour vehicle and are included in the price for both dinner tours and non-dinner tours. Drinks while visiting the saloon are not included.

Is dinner included? Yes, dinner is served right on board for our dinner tours. All public tours include dinner, unless otherwise indicated.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions? Absolutely. Just let us know your needs ahead of time.

Where do tours depart from? At what time? Any number of downtown hotels at 7:00pm.

Where can I park? There are paid parking lots within a couple blocks of The Driskill Hotel. Covered parking at St. David's Church at 7th and San Jacinto ($7), uncovered parking at 5th and Brazos ($5). There are also metered parking spaces on the street throughout downtown. 

Should I tip the guides? Tipping is customary in the U.S. service industry, so if you find your experience to be exceptional, tips are always appreciated! The tip amount is at your discretion, but as a rough guide, consider giving 10-15%. 

How do I make a reservation? Contact us to reserve your seat(s) or private tour. Full payment in advance is required to guarantee your seat. For private charters, a 50% advance deposit is required to secure the reservation.

What if I need to cancel my reservation? Reservations are 100% refundable within one week of cancellation. Cancellations less than a week prior to departure may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 24 hours may be non-refundable. We always try to work with our customers when there are extenuating circumstances.

Do you ever cancel tours? Tours are subject to cancellation due to weather or low bookings. We do our best to notify you within 24 hours of departure if your tour is canceled. Any paid bookings are of course refunded in full. 

How long is the tour? Standard dinner tours run about 3 hours, non-dinner tours are 2 hours.

Will I have a chance to use the restroom along the way? We will remind you to use the restrooms at the pickup location prior to the start of the tour. You will also have the opportunity about 45 minutes to an hour into the tour to hop off and take care of business...and, again towards the end when we stop at the final saloon destination.

Is the tour suitable for children? Private tours can be designed as family-friendly upon request. We will make sure our saloon/local joint stops are family friendly and will admit minors. Some of our public tours may be able to accommodate minors, depending on our saloon/local joint for the evening. Please inquire before booking. As always, you must show ID to be served alcoholic beverages.

Is this a pub-crawl? No, the Cosmic Cowboy Tour is not a pub-crawl. We typically visit a saloon or two as part of the experience. The Tour brings the stories of Austin’s history and eclectic heritage alive with refreshments and entertainment...all covers to the saloon we enjoy…not to mention an amphibious vehicular experience splashing into Lake Austin!
